 Our Story

The Founding of Covenant Church

After nearly a decade of ministry experience, education and serving, the Lord put it on the heart of Sean Cook to ask Him for three things; a wife, a location to launch a church, and a worship leader.  Within a week Sean had met Lori Jo (his wife to be), signed a contract with the Willis ISD (for a church location) and met Trevor & Connie Smith (who became the first worship leaders). In May of 2000, Sean and Lori Jo were engaged and the first Sunday in June marked the launching of Covenant Church. There were approximately 20 people including children that showed up for the first service. The services were held at Lynn Lucas Middle School cafeteria. Then later that year, in October Sean and Lori Jo were married and began their journey together pioneering a new church and building a new marriage. Over the next 2 years, the services continued at the school and the ministry grew strong.

Sean and his brother Heath had a vision to build a great church together and as a result Heath became one of the founding elders of Covenant Church. It was in September of 2000 when Heath and his wife Melissa joined the team at Covenant Church bringing with them proven leadership and passion.

In January of 2003 the ministry was moved to its current facility located at 302 N. Danville in Willis, TX. Then, in March of 2004 the ministry acquired a second facility right next door at 304 N. Danville. It was in the Spring of 2005 that these properties were purchased, then in 2008 a third building was added at 306 N. Danville along with a beautiful remodel of all facilities.

The people of Covenant Church are an authentic family of believers who are committed to spreading the fame of Jesus Christ and serving the purposes of God. We continually see the grace of God captivating people from all walks of life and setting them free. Covenant Church is truly a church for all generations.
